Thamirabarani and Periyaar
A short break to Alwarthirunagiri, a temple town on the banks of Thamirabarani river was our next holiday destination. The drive from Vagaikulam to Alwarthirunagiri was picturesque, passing along the banks of Thamirabarani with green fields on both sides. We spotted many birds – drongo, indian roller, bee-eaters, egrets, herons, kingfishers, doves. We spotted the…

Narsapur forest and Gummadidala cheruvu
Our first (of hopefully many ) visits to Narsapur. Narsapur is a forest park close to Hyderabad and frequented by many bird watchers. Peerancheruvu
Nestled between bunch of high rise apartments, it is a small lake with a walking path leading to the lake bank. The lake had fishes and that attracted birds. In addition to the usual suspects (egrets, herons, lapwings) we spotted the white breasted waterhen here.

Ameenpur Lake Birding Spot
We planned to go to Ameenpur lake again and this time we followed google maps to the “Ameenpur lake birding spot for water birds”. It was a bit of an adventure to get to the place, but it was worth it as it had some great spots to see birds. We had a better vantage…

Ashwin told them “Pittala photolu teestunnammu” and they wondered why anyone would want to take photos of birds. Revisited…

Once we were in LangerHouz, we decided to do Gandipet a different week and traveled towards Himayat Sagar Lake with the help of Google maps. After going through a few dead ends to get closer…

Trip to Shamirpet & Hakimpet lakes
June 2nd started with an early morning trip to Shamirpet lake for bird photography. There was a good breeze and it helped overcome the heat. The man made lake was huge, however saw more water bottles and beer bottles than birds. There were fewer birds compared to the Ameenpur lake and I was disappointed with…

Sindhudurg Birds
We went to Sindhudurg in February for a short holiday. This is the post from my mother-in-law on our experience in Sidhudurg. Coco Shambala is where we stayed in Sindhudurg and that place was truly a paradise – calm and serene, interspersed with the sound of waves and the chirping of birds. The villa we…

Birds at home
Thanks to GHMC, we have two amazing trees in front of our house – a yellow gulmohar tree and an Indian beech tree, both of which attract birds. Due to these trees, we have seen quite a few birds from our terrace.
